Kitchen Mayhem Update– Demo In Process

Kitchen Mayhem update– demo in process! Before it can get better it has to get worse. If you have been following along with our Kitchen Mayhem Part 1 and Kitchen Mayhem Part 2, you know a pipe leak has lead us into a kitchen and powder room refresh. You can check out my mood board for the kitchen here and the mood board for the powder room here.

Demo Progress– Cabinets Out!

This step was a bit of a surprise for me. I thought we would just remove the cabinet doors and hardware to paint, but Hubby had other ideas in mind. I am so thankful for a 6 foot 4 inch step-son who is very strong and my Hubby’s good friends to help out with the heavy lifting. Hubby thinks the best way to tackle painting the cabinets is with them off of the wall. I’ll take his word for it!

Demo Progress, Demo in Process– Remove the boxes over the former cabinets!

The second big thing for this phase was to decide what to do about the boxes over the former cabinets. My idea was to simply put shiplap over them when we painted the cabinets white but then Hubby surprised me by having our step-son pull the cabinets down completely. This gave us the opportunity to check out what was inside of them. I thought for sure they were there to cover some type of duct work or pipes. A quick little hole in the bottom revealed they were purely decorative! What a lucky break for us. Knowing they were not really serving any purpose, we decided they had to go. If you are going to do it, then REALLY do it!

That’s all for now with our demo in process, I’ll keep you updated as we go. Plans change quickly sometimes and we are already facing a few challenges. We will chat again soon! As always, thanks for stopping by!

I am just a Mom, a wife, and a DIY lover who works full time and deals with chronic illness... I am a lupus warrior and a Sjogren’s sister, I have fibromyalgia, I have had decompression surgery for Arnold Chiari, and have Cervical Dystonia along with other health issues and I live by the Spoon Theory (If you don’t know what the spoon theory is don’t worry- I will share) like any other chronic illness patient. My life may move at a different pace but I get there just the same. In my own time. Little by little.
