Powder Room Refresh Update

Well we are starting to make some headway–here is our Powder Room Refresh Update. To be honest I am a little bit behind on my blogging. No worries, I will soon update you on everything that has been going on. It has been a little crazy around here!

For now, I do want to show you how our Powder Room Refresh is coming along. If you are interested in seeing my mood board for this room you can check it out here. This room is an extension of our kitchen and is getting a refresh because of a little disaster that led to my post Kitchen Mayhem. Kitchen Mayhem Part 2 is basically a mood board for our kitchen refresh. You can check out my many blog posts that follow along with the process here on mrslittlebylittle.com as well. Due to our kitchen disaster and re-fresh we knew that the small powder room just off of the kitchen had to be included. I finally have a little bit of progress to show you!

White Planking

Since we decided to use white shiplap and white subway tiles in our kitchen, we knew we wanted something just a little bit different in the powder room. My Hubby actually was the one that spotted this whitewashed planking at Menards and talked me into it. It’s a team effort, right? And what’s even better is that because the planking has no gaps in between the boards we could actually just put it up right over top of the existing wallpaper. We did not have to go through all of the work that we did in the kitchen noted in this blog post. Win, win! Here is what we have so far.

My Inspiration

Here is the picture that is my inspiration for the back wall of our powder room. I do not know who this image belongs to. It may have come from Pinterest actually. I just love so much about it. I’m thinking I will definitely paint the top half dark like in the picture and I will use stained shelving like they have too. I even love the picture that splits the light and dark planking. To me it is exactly what my tiny powder room needs. I already have a light raw wood vanity and a black waterfall faucet for the other side of the room. I think it will complement each other nicely.

Paint The White Planking?

You know me, I always have a dilemma. Now that the new planking is up, I almost cant bear to paint the top half dark. At one point, I was actually planning on painting the whole back wall dark like in my Powder Room Makeover blog post. I almost wish they hadn’t planked the top half of that back wall. Once I paint it, there’s no going back. I can’t ever make those planks look like they did originally. Maybe I should buy an extra box to have in case I want to go back to all white? Maybe I just should leave it all white. I really, really like the look of the dark top half though! What to do, what to do? Would you paint it? What do you guys think?

Drop me a line and let me know your thoughts! And, as always, thanks for stopping by.

I am just a Mom, a wife, and a DIY lover who works full time and deals with chronic illness... I am a lupus warrior and a Sjogren’s sister, I have fibromyalgia, I have had decompression surgery for Arnold Chiari, and have Cervical Dystonia along with other health issues and I live by the Spoon Theory (If you don’t know what the spoon theory is don’t worry- I will share) like any other chronic illness patient. My life may move at a different pace but I get there just the same. In my own time. Little by little.
